Parametric PDG was founded in 2005 as a network to assist independent inventors in finding product development resources.  From our humble beginnings, we have grown to become a premier product design and engineering services firm serving a wide variety of independent and corporate clients within the medical device, appliance, consumer product, fabrication and heavy equipment industries.

Parametric PDG fills a niche between traditional technical staffing firms and more costly brick-and-mortar product design firms, by breaking down the barriers that prevent smaller companies, start-ups, and larger firms alike, from finding capable product development talent and resources when they need it. 

The Problem

The problem is that staffing firms are generally not interested (and not effective) in placing candidates in short-term projects on an as-needed basis.  And, although traditional brick-and-mortar product design firms can handle short-term projects, they are renowned for charging high hourly rates ($125-$300 per hour) to cover fixed overhead and non-billable “downtime”. These high rates often may not be within reach of independent inventors, start-ups, or smaller companies who are often understaffed and/or who would benefit from additional resources or outside expertise. 

The Parametric PDG Solution

Parametric solves these problems by:

Parametric PDG primarily works on a “by project” basis.  However, for clients with ongoing needs for part-time engineering support, but not enough to justify adding a full-time engineer to their staff, Parametric PDG offers fractional rates.  For example, if a client consistently needs 40 hours of engineering support per month, we offer discounted rates for a 6-month service commitment. This allows us to dedicate and reserve resources for a particular customer.
